On 13 August 2008, Rotary Club of Kew on Yarra and the Boroondara City Council proudly held their 4th annual John Reddish Excellence Service Service Awards night. The award, named in honour of PDG Dr John Reddish, recognises excellence in service provided by small businesses operating within the City of Boroondara consistent with the Rotary motto "Service Above Self". The awards which initially started out in only one shopping precinct have been expanded to now include 24 shopping precincts grouped into 3 regions, the Northern, Western and Eastern Regions.
Three finalists were selected from each of the Regions based on nominations from patrons of small businesses operating in the regions. Some 800 businesses operate in the municipality and 370 were nominated for their service excellence. The Awards Committee had considerable difficulty narrowing these nominations down to the 9 precinct winners represented at the dinner, let alone selecting 3 winners for each of the Regions and of course the overall winner.
The Director of Vocational Service, Daryl Broadbent organised the event with a video presentation of all the finalists and John Brownsea was the MC of the evening.
We congratulate and commend all 9 precinct winners for their service giving rise to their nominations and of course the exemplary service given by the above regional winners.

The regional winner is: Bendigo Community Bank.
Northern region finalists:

The regional winner is: The Little Shop on Glenferrie Hill.

The regional winner is: Paul's Patisserie.

Mayor of Boroondara, Cr Coral Ross drew the lucky numbers for the Raffle Prizes.
We gratefully acknowledge and appreciate the support provided by our sponsors, the ANZ Bank, Farawell Wines and Media Options.
